Mark As Unread

As the name suggests, this feature allows you to unread the message you read accidentally. Maybe you are busy and got an important message, and now you are afraid that you will forget it, so mark it as unread, and you are good to go. To mark the message unread, go to chats and select a conversation you want to mark as unread, tap, and hold, then click three dots and select mark as unread.

Mute A Conversation

Did you know you can mute a conversation? Let’s say you have an annoying friend who sends all the random stuff, and it gets you distracted, so make it mute. It won’t affect your WhatsApp notifications.

To mute a conversation, tap the conversation, and you will see a bell icon on top. Tap it and select the time you want to ghost it out.

Lock Individual Chats

We all are most likely using app lock in WhatsApp for privacy reasons, but did you know a new feature allows you to lock individual chats? It is a convenient feature if more than one person uses a single WhatsApp account. They can use chat lock to lock some chats.

To use this wonderful feature, tap and hold the chat you want to lock. Click the three dots on the top right corner and select lock chat.

Hide Last Seen

WhatsApp provides high-level privacy features for its users. Privacy is the most important concern of people, so with this feature, you can hide your last seen. If you have a message from a friend and you didn’t reply, but they know your WhatsApp last seen, you will have to make an excuse as to why you didn’t reply. You can solve this problem by hiding your last sight. But there is a downside: you won’t be able to see the last time others have it on.

Go to Settings < Privacy < Hide last seen.

Disable Read Recipient

You dont want others to know if you have read their messages. Well, WhatsApp has got you covered on this one, too.

Go to Settings < Privacy < Toggle Disable read recipient

Save Storage on Images and Videos

Managing your gallery is the biggest hassle and can be a headache sometimes. WhatsApp auto downloads the images and videos in group chats and can also burden your storage. You can avoid all these problems with just a simple feature.

Select the chat < tap the icon of the chat < click on the “i” button < scroll down and select “Media Visibility” tap it and turn it off.

Now you wont see the images and videos of that chat in gallery.

Disappearing Messages

You chat a lot or have groups that have thousands of messages. It can burden your storage, or there is some important information, and you often forget to delete those messages. WhatsApp has this feature most people don’t know or use. It’s called disappearing messages. It allows you to set a time for which your chats can have life; after that, those messages will be deleted automatically.

You can set it for entire conversations or can have it manually for a few.

Go to Settings < Privacy < Disappearing messages < Select the timer.

You want to have only a few conversations with this feature, well that is how you can do that:

Open the chat < tap the three dots < select Disappearing messages.

WhatsApp Communities

Communities are a great feature in WhatsApp. It allows people to connect on a topic base. You can join communities related to topics you are interested in, make your communities, or even add a group to the existing community. Community admins can send announcements to all the members of the community groups.

Edit Sent Messages

There are many times when we make a typo in a conversation. It does not matter when chatting with friends, but it is different in businesses. So WhatsApp gave us this feature, which allows us to edit messages that have been sent. You can edit a sent message, but there will be a tag of ‘edited’ with the time of the message sent.
